Feb '01 to Sept '06 - Siemens Automation Systems Ltd., Winchester, Hants.

Senior Systems Engineer.

I was responsible for the design, programming, testing and commissioning of approximately 15 PLC based control systems, utilising Allen Bradley, Siemens and Mitsubishi PLC's.

I continued to review FDS's and provide the Drawing Office with both motor and PLC Kit and I/O details. I wrote most of the PLC control programs and designed the HMI layouts wherever possible. I was also responsible for panel testing and regularly travelled to site to commission the panels. (UK, Chile, Tanzania, Thailand, N. Ireland, Kenya, Ukraine, Russia, Germany and Japan.)

Most projects were still in the Tobacco Industry but I also worked on a Cheese Cutter control system and a Bread-roll Over-wrapping control system.

I provided technical assistance to the Sales department and visited a number of overseas customers to discuss technical requirements.

Following Siemens failure to sell the company as a going concern, they made nearly all of us redundant and I decided to go self-employed.
